New theatre company Lemon House Theatre are inviting to come and see one of the first shows they are developing - Orange Peel by Samia Djilli.
"Orange Peel is the story of two sisters, Amira and Linda. These two British-Algerian women couldn’t be further apart on the social spectrum.
Amira is settling into her marriage to a nice Algerian man. She prays five times a day, cooks his meals, cleans his clothes and peels his oranges, all while spending her days as a primary school teacher. Linda on the other hand has rejected her traditional family and is trying to discover what comes next.
As the hot London summer nights roll from one to the next, Linda pesters Amira in every way imaginable and the women uncover some dark truths and colourful coincidences, eventually posing the question: who’s on the right track and who’s fallen off? "
This will be a rehearsed reading of the show, where the actors will be performing the current draft of the show script-in-hand, to help with the development of the piece. There will be a short Q&A at the end where we would love for you to let us know your thoughts on the show so far!
About Lemon House Theatre
Our new theatre company is working to make vibrant theatre that creates conversations between artists and audiences. We love making theatre that celebrates the uniqueness of what theatre is: the live nature of it, it’s ability to engage with people from all walks of life, and the audience-performer relationship.
Ultimately, we want to question what theatre is, who makes it, and who it’s for.
